Let's face your not who you were and your not yet who'll you be. In other words, everything you are and do evolves as you evolve.

The challenge to starting a new business, blog or any creative initiative, is that the beginning is far from the end that you have intended. In all reality your first attempt at producing this new creative idea is probably going to suck. Accepting that it sucks and moving forward is the key to arriving at the desired results.

Ira Glass, host and executive producer of the public radio show, This American Life, recounts his early mistakes in attempting to create quality content that is enjoyable to listen. There is some priceless wisdom in the video... Enjoy!

Are you completely satisfied with everything about YOU? Learning how to take those things that you don't like about yourself and get them to work in your favor is what separates the remarkable from the miserable. I'm definitely sure that remarkable sounds more enjoyable.

When I was in my early teens I had a serious weight issue. This weight problem led me to eating all types of food. I ate anything I could get my hands on. I drank shakes and protein drinks and I never could seem to gain weight. This embarrassment of being the "skinny" kid kept me from a lot of things. It also caused me to develop some deep-rooted insecurities. That was until something remarkable happened!

Are you ready for this incredible discovery? Are you ready to take them and use them for yourself?

Accept who YOU are
I didn’t care what people thought about me. Neither should YOU. I completely accepted everything about me.

Stop being around negativity
I was infected with negativity. Breaking away was tough, but when I begin to look at things from a more positive perspective my whole world changed. Getting rid of negativity talk and thinking allowed me to see everything around me different.

Stop forcing EVERYTHING
We have been programmed to pursue and conquer. Nothing should stand in your way. It they don't like you, make them like you. If they don't like your ideas make them like your ideas. If they don't want to build a relationship, then force it.

However, when I finally let go and began thinking more strategically about my ideas, self-etc., instead of pushing I was invited, instead of selling I was pursued. Learning to wait can be extremely hard lesson to embrace, but when you reach your destination it sure is far more rewarding.

YOU will be surprised of what will take place when you begin walking in your shoes instead of someone else's.

Go be YOU today! Don't be a clone, be YOU! Don't be an echo, be a voice!

Success Happens in the Trenches

If your new to davidsfinch.com, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or by email. Thanks for visiting.

Anyone that has ever succeeded at anything happened only when they decided to dig in, not give up and take no for an answer. It's in the trenches that we build life changing relationships. It's in the trenches that we wrestle with failure, yet choose to go forward. It's in the trenches that we face our fears and discover our strengths. It's in the trenches where we focus only on the things that matter.

However, staying in the trenches is only by choice. At anytime we can choose to give up and quit. No one is keeping us here. That being said, the success that we are looking for and the goals and dreams that we are wanting to achieve only come by making that choice to stay in the game and not give up.

The Trench from Philip Bloom on Vimeo.

When your faced with the decision to quit or keep going you may want to:

1. Reread your personal mission statement
2. Ask yourself the hard questions
3. Reconnect with your heroes.
4. Focus on your strengths.
5. Recommit to your future.

What do you do when your faced with a quit or move forward decision? Who's opinion do you trust? Leave a comment and share your story.

Finding Balance - Fact or Fiction

Balance

Everyone is looking for tips on how they can introduce balance into their busy lifestyles. People spend hours reading hoping to find the remedy to their chaotic life. I wonder sometime if balance is ever achieved or more frustration sets in when living the life of a monk or guru seems impossible.

Is lifestyle balance really achievable or is just fiction? Are we reaching for something that we can never obtain?

Lately, here is how I've been approaching the whole subject and challenge of living a balanced life.

Live LIfe at 110 Percent
There are no second chances, you only live once. Make sure your living with no regrets. Everything you do, give 110 percent effort to it and never settle for just getting by.

Live in the Moment
This can be very hard for dreamers and visionaries, but living in the moment opens up a brand new world to you. You noticed things you've never noticed before and your effectiveness in the moment becomes greater and more enjoyable.

Have Your Priorities Right
When you have your priorities right I think that is balance. Then your able to give 110 percent and enjoy being in the moment. When your priorities are right you don't cheat your family and the chances of shortcutting your life plan becomes slim. Having your priorities right works as a guard against those things that sneak in as time wasters and distractions.

Take Time for ME
Many times the last person to get proper attention is you. Learn to schedule time for you. Whatever it is that makes you happy, refreshes you and rejuvenates your dreams and passions.

Finally, I think learning to be OK with you brings balance. Accepting your strengths and weaknesses that's balance. Working with what you have instead of always wishing for more, that is balance.

How do you deal with the whole concept of balance living? What things are you doing to find a happy medium to all your projects, ambitions, family etc.?

4 Ways to Avoid Short-Cutting your Dreams

Shortcut

One of the quickest ways to abort your dreams is to fall into the trap of cutting corners. It may seem like you've reached a level of success, but in the long run there always is a price to pay. I'm always amazed at individuals and small businesses that buy into this way of thinking. Here are four ways to avoid short-cutting your dreams.

Review your personal mission statement
Your personal mission statement is the base of all your dreams. It's the foundation of your ethics and character that motivates you to dream and go after your goals. It reminds you of how you wanted to "change the world" and not generate large sums of money.

Stay on Course
One of the ways you can be tempted to take short cuts is when you've lost your sense of direction. Lack of direction can lead to loss of time and money. That being said, it's never fun to have to back track because what looked like the short cut actually became the long way.

Focus on Quality
If your committed to quality, you'll never have to worry about short-cutting your dreams. Quality always communicates respect to your customers and yourself. The only way to garauntee any level of success is to produce quality products and quality customer service. Dreams have little shelf life if quality is not a standard that you live by.

Trust Your Community
Be open with family, friends, and mentors. Being accountable to others always serves great reality checks. Usually this group of individuals have no problem letting you know when they see you selling out. The more your open with them, the more they'll be honest with you.

I've been tempted many times to take short cuts. Many times as I've methodically worked toward my goals, I've compared myself to others and wondered if taking a short cut was worth it. However, as I've tried to stay on course I've noticed that those that sold out by taking short cuts often times are now no where to be found.

If your going to build, build to last!

How to Cope with Fatigue

Disclaimer:
The information listed below is not from a medical or professional viewpoint. The ideas mentioned below are personal tips that have been beneficial in how I cope with fatigue.

One of the biggest challenges to obtaining your personal goals can often be fatigue. Anyone that is trying to move forward will discover that fatigue pulls against forward progress. Especially if your trying to launch a new idea while still maintaining your "normal" life. Often times when fatigue sets in, will power alone doesn't get you through. You have to recognize it and then attack it like a bad virus.

I'm one that is never short on ideas and I also have been know to allow myself to get ran down and victimized by fatigue. Here are just a few things that have worked for me when I find myself in these types of conditions.

Accept that I'm wearing down
For achievers and producers this can be extremely hard. Denial is never good when your body, mind and emotions are telling you something different. Being able to accept that fact that your fatigued can be therapeutic in itself and the beginning to the road of rejuvenation.

Identifying what's causing the fatigue
Knowing what is causing the fatigue can make your life more easy. Personally, when I'm suffering from fatigue it will usually fall back on lack of sleep. Going long periods of time without sleep can be very harmful. When I know this, it makes the remedy process a lot easier.

Change your diet
It's extremely common when your in the crunch mode and "getting things done" seems all that is important, diet takes a big hit. Fast food become gourmet dinners and chips and sodas become energy aids. This can be extremely hurtful. Loads of carbs and sugars is never helpful when your stuck behind a computer for hours on end.

When I fill my diet with fresh vegetables and fruit and eliminate my carbonated drinks my body doesn't always feel so sluggish. My food is actually fueling my body instead of tearing it down.

Get some exercise
Ok, I know that we all may not go join a gym, but adding some physical exercise into are daily routine can be a life saver. Don't try to become a marathon runner overnight, but take thirty minutes and get outside and go for a walk. Get the blood moving.

This has always been helpful for me. It's amazing the more you do it, the more enjoyable it becomes. However, if your determined to become a high achiever, joining a gym and working out on a regular schedule can work magic on your fatigue levels.

Learn to say NO!
This can be hard for many, especially if your a people pleaser. You'll max yourself out and add more stress and pressure on yourself just because you can't say no. Saying "NO" are magic words to your personal sanity. Try it sometime. I guarantee you'll be surprised.

This won't be easy at first, but with practice you can eliminate undo pressure just be learning to say NO.

It's OK to sleep
This is what I have to remind myself of. I feel guilty sometimes wasting time sleeping. Especially, when I have goals and deadlines that I have put on myself. I wrestle with the idea that the more I sleep the farther I'm away from my goals. However, I've discovered that when I start thinking this way that I defeat myself before I ever get started. I find that instead of being fresh and effective, I'm constantly tired and at times extremely unproductive.

Taking the time to sleep and take naps have worked magic for my fatigue levels. It's amazing how much more I get accomplished when I attack my project list with new levels of energy.

Work Smart
I was told growing up that there are three ways to get something done. There's the wrong way, the right way and then the smart way. I've tried to find the smart way. Make sure your working smart. Take advantage of technology. Control the information you consume. Take back your phone. Be in charge of your email inbox. Shop smart.

There is a hack to anything you need. Find it and implement into your routine. Life's to short to waste time, work smart and take your life back.

Have Fun
It's OK to have fun! Laugh more, dance more, hang out with friends more, spend more time with family. Incorporating fun into your life is a secret ingredient to battling fatigue every time. Don't take yourself to serious, all your stuff will be waiting for you when you get back.

How have you dealt with fatigue? What has been your biggest tip you could share? Leave a comment and be part of the conversation.
